The Lagos State Development and Property Corporation was present at the Commissioning of Sura Shopping complex power project, Lagos Island on the 26th October, 2018 themed Electrifying Nigeria One at a Time. The commissioning was performed by the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo
The Project which was executed under the Federal Government’s Energizing Economies Initiative (EEI) and implemented by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), aims at providing clean and consistent power as well as job employment. Also, it aims at supporting rapid deployment of off-grid electricity solutions to MSME’s within economic clusters like markets, shopping complexes and agricultural/ industrial clusters through private sector developers.
Sura Shopping complex was taken over by LSDPC as owner from IBILE Holdings Ltd on the 14th August, 2006. Out of the total of 1,047 shops in the complex, 72 shops were ceded to M/s HFP an engineering company. Hence, the remaining 975 shops of various sizes were left for LSDPC as the owner.
Dignitaries present at the event were Mr. Olawale Oluwo who represented the Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode; Minister of Power, Works, and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN; MD/CEO Rural Electrification Agency, Mrs Damilola Ogunbiyi; MD/CEO Solad Power Holdings, Mr. Denis O’Brien; Chairman NERC, Prof. James Momoh; Chairman Market Association Sura Shopping complex, Mrs. Bunmi Ajayi.
The Ag. Managing Director/ CEO Arc. Dhikrulha Har-Yusuph and some members of the Management and Staff of the Corporation also graced the event.
