Relief will soon come the way of Lagos State public servants as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday unveiled plans to build 3,456 homes tagged Imota Workers City which will be built on 20 hectares of land at Imota area of the state.
In his remarks, Governor Sanwo-Olu during the Ibeshe commissioning recognized the workers as the oil that lubricates the engine of prosperity in the state. He noted that the 480 housing units of Ibeshe LagosHoms was delivered through direct budgetary allocation. Sanwo-Olu said the utmost goal is to build homes within livable surroundings and to create communities where values are protected and cherished.
Furthermore, he added that the impact of good and decent homes on the welfare of citizenry is of utmost importance to every responsive government and in line with his administration’s inclusive stance, the state government wants to reach as many people as possible in its housing provision efforts. “We are developing a special housing package for workers in the State”, he said.
He added that in developing and completing these schemes the government is putting in mind the total wellbeing of the people. ”This will add to the actualization of our vision of building a resilient and dynamic Lagos” he said. He however implored all the prospective allottees of the new scheme to ensure good maintenance of the estate facilities.
The Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, said the state government’s efforts are to ensure that the housing deficit in the state is reduced and that decent homes are made available to all categories of residents. He emphasized that the essence of all the activities in the sector is to strengthen the built sector so that positive impacts are seen in the lives of all the citizens.
The Managing Director/CEO of Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC), Hon. Ayodeji Joseph whose agency built the estate, presented a brief of the estate stating that it is the sixth in the series of the LagosHoms built by the LSDPC. The project consists of 40 blocks (480 units) of 1, 2 & 3-bedroom flats.
Hon. Joseph expressed his profound gratitude to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for resuscitating the challenged projects during his time as MD/CEO between 2016 – 2018. He assured Mr. Governor that the legacy he left behind would be consolidated.
